The owner is very nice and talkative! However, there are not many tables and they will turn you down with “No table” when they know you have to wait for long(As I saw this situation for few times).The dishes are great and the price is reasonable.There is a “Recommendation for 3 brands of Hida sake” on the menu which is worth to try!

Food is okay , staff is quite rude. Not Japanese standard at all - maybe because too many tourists.

The beef dishes were fine, but not the best I had in Takayama and it is expensive also. I have been to Takayama 3 times in 10 years, there are many more options to have great Hida beef. The restaurant is really busy with walk ins as they do not accept any reservations, so as most of the restaurants in town. Takayama is getting really packed with tourists, the restaurant does not seem to care about the walk ins and turned them away by saying No Table, No reservation, please leave...did not sound very welcoming...The service was so so with the price we paid for...

The owner was so kind and interesting. He entertained us all evening with his international travels. The beef was first class. A5 grade. Soft and tasty. Please visit this restaurant if you get the chance. Highly recommended.

ripped off tourists trap. it is wayyy over priced, the photos in the menu are misleading, you get like a miniature version of what is in the menu and the quality is not that good

Avoid this restaurant at all cost. There are much better places to spend your money.Owner was extremely rude and condescending. If you are willing to be insulted and pay stupid prices, this will be the place to eat.

The food here is really good, maybe the best I've had in Takayama. Came twice to dry both the hoba miso and the sukiyaki here. The waiting staff is doing their best to serve Japanese and foreigners alike, even though some foreigners are really challenging. The biggest challenge to the waiting staff (and sometimes making guests uncomfortable as well) however is the boss who's sitting rather useless behind the counter all the time. Food 5 stars, waiting staff 4 stars, boss 3 stars - I'll give the average here.

Total rip off. 300 yen per person to sit at a shared table.. With other customers smoking! Really? Healthy Japanese.. Smoking in a restaurant. Stupid. Really stupid. 1 week in Japan and I'm ready to go back to my home in Thailand for some real food. The meal I ordered was 900 yen.. A tiny bowl of veggies... That I had to cook over a candle heat. Huh? A small bowl of rice and salad. I'm still hungry! My wife ordered a chicken dish.. Decent size.. 700 yen.. But no taste.. Zero.. Zero spices.. Zero flavor. Nothing. Service. Slow. Very slow. Nope. I do not recommend.

The price is really high here.The normal beef don need more than 2000 yen for a bowl.And other dishes is also high price.But the restaurant just show the beef quality and the no. for the source.It provide the highest quality beef to customer so the high price is fine.The dishes is really delicious!Not to mentioned about the taste for beef, also for the cook skill.High price just bring us lots of joy for the lunch!It the greatest meal during this trip!The manager couple is really kind and talk a lot to us.Highly recommend for traveler to give it a try!

Lunch time, i ordered the hamberg set.everyday limited for 8 sets.it is so different from pork hamberg.a little high price, but you could have a try.

We stopped in at this very conveniently located place for our last meal in Takayama. The staff was so kind and helpful. I ordered the beef bowl and it was perfect and delicious. My husband had the sukiyaki and it was delightful. It’s def not the cheapest lunch you could have but the hida beef was delicious and we had no regrets.

They serves delicious hida beef !! We came for lunch and every plate we order were super yummy. The owner and the staff were very friendly. We recommend rice with grilled hida beef specialty, the price were reasonable compare to what you get!!

Very delicious, but it's expensive because of Hida Beef(飛驒牛).

They cook the meat for you without asking how you’d like it, and it came way too cooked. Expensive for what it is.

A really nice place, the waitress was really kind to recommend me one of the dishes and it was incredible. It's not cheap but none of the hida beef restaurants are, so get ready to spend at least 30-40€ per person. Hope you all have a great trip to Takayama.

I love their Hida beef cuisine, It’s well prepared. The whole meal experience is also unique and interesting. Highly recommend the beef sushi.

Supreme meal no doubt

When you're not really in the budget, try to come during lunch time and try the Hida Beef Hamburg. They only serve 8 servings per day, so try to be there fast. The place itself is not crowded, but if you want to chase the hamburg, you may want to come earlier.

A very high class restaurant which provides Hida beef's food. The price is about USD 100 per person, but It worths.

Consistently open and though it looks a little commercialised the hida beef is well cooked and tasty here.

When in Hida Takayama you should try Hida beef which is among the best in Japan. A good place to eat this is this restaurant. The beef stew is simple, extraordinarily tender, very tasty and rather expensive. Prices are all high but, from two visits, the quality matches the prices. The owner is a man of strong opinions and rules the place very strictly, both staff and diners. This attitude can seem rude so be prepared and definitely don't try to pay with a card!

We ordered two different Hidan Beef set, one steak and one steam. If you like Kobe beef, then Hidan beef steak is very similar. I’d like the steam one better though. Also you can try the local crafted beer too. Good service!

The grill beef is totally cold!!!! And it seemed to be left there for a long while before it was served to us. And we told the owner they just RECOOKED it till it was almost BURNT!! And the price is very high compare to the taste and SERVICE. The host seems very very AGGRESSIVE to the customers.....
